Foreign Ministry of Ukraine has confirmed that Ukrainian businessman Dmytro Firtash has been arrested in Austria.

“According to a report by Ukraine’s embassy in Austria, the report
that Dmytro Firtash was arrested at the request of the FBI has been
confirmed,” Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Yevhen Perebyinis said.

The spokesman said that the businessman is at the penitentiary of
Vienna. The Ukraine’s embassy is clearing up all details on the matter
and will try to meet with Firtash.

As a source in Group DF, combining the assets of Ukrainian
businessman Dmytro Firtash, told Interfax-Ukraine on Thursday morning,
the reason of his detention was investigation of FBI on an investment
project in India in 2006, in which Firtash allegedly was involved.

However, the source in Group DF sharply denied there had been any wrongdoing by Firtash.

The agency’s interlocutor said that court examination under this case
has lasted for several years. Several citizens of India have been
arrested in the United States, and one of them allegedly testified
against Firtash.

The key businesses of Group DF are fertilizer, titanium, gas and
banking sectors, while other areas of the group’s operation along with
real estate include media business agribusiness, soda ash production and
energy infrastructure.

The consolidated revenues of Group DF were about $6 billion, EBITDA –
$ 1.3 billion in 2012, according to preliminary unaudited data.
