The Ukrainian Interior Ministry is checking any information that could help track Dirar Abu Sisi, a Palestinian national, who disappeared under unknown circumstances in February.

The ministry says government institutions and public organizations have approached it asking assistance in establishing the whereabouts the 42-year-old Palestinian.

It stressed that Abu Sisi was not detained by the police.

"The personnel of the Ukrainian police, border and customs posts have been instructed to find him. Registers of the police, medical institutions and hotels are being checked. Thus we are looking through all the information that could help establish his whereabouts," the report says.

Meanwhile, the foreign media report that the missing Palestinian is the technical director of a power station. They say he was kidnapped in Ukraine and transferred to Israel. Ukrainian special services have not confirmed these reports.

The Interior Ministry quotes the Palestinian’s Ukrainian wife as saying that her husband may be staying abroad. She said that after his disappearance she talked to him and his lawyer on the phone.

The police say they are doing their utmost to establish the whereabouts of the man.
