You're reading: Ukrainian military counts 33 attacks in Donbas in past 24 hours

Donbas militants launched 33 shell attacks against Ukrainian military positions on Tuesday, according to the press center for the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine.

“So far, there have been 33 shell attacks,” it said on Facebook.

In the Donetsk area, militants targeted Ukrainian positions near Luhanske, Mayorsk, Avdiyivka, Opytne and Novhorodske. In Zaitseve, the Ukrainian positions came under massive fire, with militants firing 158 mortars of the 120 and 82 millimeter caliber for an hour and a half. Militants also used automatic grenade launchers and small arms in Avdiyivka.

The Ukrainian armed forces in the Donetsk area did not use weapons prohibited by the Minsk agreements, the press center said.

In Luhansk area, militants also resumed shelling of Ukrainian positions. In particular, a militant sniper operated near Schastia, while in Novozvanivka militants used a large-caliber machinegun. A similar situation was in Shyrokyne, near Mariupol.
