You're reading: Ukrainian opposition continues blocking parliament

Ukrainian opposition representatives have again taken seats in the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada presidium and beside the rostrum before the start of a Wednesday session.

Three opposition people’s deputies are sitting in the presidium while seven people are standing beside the rostrum, an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent said.

It was reported that on January 14, the first day of the parliamentary plenary week, people’s deputies from opposition factions blocked the rostrum and the presidium 30 minutes before the session.

Parliamentary Speaker Volodymyr Rybak opened the morning session and immediately announced it adjourned until 4 p.m. for consultations with faction leaders, by which time, however, talks had failed to finish and the evening session never opened.
