You're reading: US advisers and defender come to Tymoshenko in hospital

KHARKIV — Representatives of the U.S. law firm Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & FlomLLP, who were invited by Ukraine for an independent study of the materials of the trial of former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, have come to Central Clinical Hospital No. 5 (Kharkiv), where the ex-premier is undergoing treatment, according to an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent.

A minibus with the U.S. advisers drove to the hospital at 1055. Ten minutes before that Tymoshenko’s defender Serhiy Vlasenko entered the territory of the hospital.

Up to thirty supporters of the former prime minister in T-shirts with the inscription “Free Yulia” and the flags of the Batkivschyna Party gathered in front of the hospital.

As reported, the Ukrainian Justice Ministry has attracted the U.S. Skadden law firm in investigating the Tymoshenko vs. Ukraine case in the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR). A contract for the provision of legal services was signed between the ministry and the firm on May 25, 2012.

On June 27 the press office of the State Penitentiary Service of Ukraine reported that representatives of the U.S. Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP law firm, which Ukraine invited to conduct an independent study of the materials of the trial of former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, would meet with her on  June 28.
