The United States Department of State insists on changes to the Ukrainian Constitution regarding a special status for the breakaway parts of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, on elections being held in the breakaway areas as early as July, and amnesty granted to armed group members, Samopomich parliamentarian Viktoria Voitsitska has said.

This is what U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland said, at her meeting with representatives of Rada factions in Kyiv, a spokesperson for the Samopomich party said on April 26.

Thus, the sanctions relief is tied not to the resolution of the problem of Crimea and Donbas but to Ukraine making changes to its constitution, and the holding of elections in its breakaway areas, the parliamentarian said.
