The remaining part of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU will be signed in the near future, President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy has said.

Van Rompuy at a press conference after the EU summit in Brussels on
March 21 noted that the EU and Ukraine signed the political part of the
Association Agreement early on March 21.

“This is a signal of our solidarity with the Ukrainian people,” he said about the document.

In this regard, Van Rompuy expressed confidence that the remaining
part of the Association Agreement would be “signed soon” and “together
with the political part will be a single tool.”

According to EC president, before signing the political part of the
Association Agreement, he and European Commission President Jose Manuel
Barroso met with Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk.

“[Yatseniuk] assured us that his government is working on building an open and modern Ukraine,” Van Rompuy added.
