The head of the foreign affairs committee of the Lithuanian parliament, Emanuelis Zingeris, has said that Vilnius believes that the association agreement between Ukraine and the EU should be signed as soon as possible.

“Lithuania wants to see the early signing of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU, and the Lithuanian parliament will be among the first to ratify its text, when the process reaches the stage of ratification,” Zingeris said in Vilnius at a conference on the prospects of Central Europe, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry’s press service reported on Wednesday.

According to him, Lithuania believes that the upcoming parliamentary elections in Ukraine will be open and democratic and will help intensify the dialogue between Kyiv and Brussels.

“Ukraine has a key role in the geopolitical structure of modern democratic Europe, and Lithuania will always support its independence and European choice,” the Lithuanian politician said.
