The case of a Yakima doctor missing for six weeks in the Ukrainian city of Kyiv has been classified as a homicide to allow police to invest more resources into the search, according to an official with the church he had been working with.

Dr. Jay Sloop, who had been in Kyiv for three weeks working to set up a lifestyle center for the Seventh-day Adventist Church, was last seen May 14 when he left for a morning walk.
