Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has reduced the size of expenditures on the maintenance of his administration in 2013.

“The state budget for 2013 should be executed efficiently, and saving should be its main objective. As an example of such saving, I want to name a reduction this year by 11.8% in the size of expenditures on the maintenance of and organizational, informational, analytical, logistical and technical support for the activity of the president and the presidential administration,” the head of state said in an interview with the Komsomolskaya Pravda v Ukraine newspaper, excerpts of which were published on the Web site of the newspaper on Thursday (the full interview will be released in Friday’s issue).

Yanukovych also said that if any of the articles are financed with excess and the expenses are not directed for reform, these expenditures will be reviewed after the first quarter of the year.

“All budget funds should be strictly controlled,” he said.
