Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych believes the funding of the modernization of the public utilities system should be increased.

"We’re not allocating enough funds for housing and utilities," he told Prime Minister Mykola Azarov during a cabinet meeting in Kyiv on Wednesday.

The president said that Ukrainians were more and more worried about the lack of financing of housing and utilities.

"We should pay attention to this, and I would like you to take this into account while considering the budget in parliament," the president said, addressing Parliamentary Speaker Volodymyr Lytvyn.

President Yanukovych said he believes that the funding of the public utilities sector should be more than UAH 5 billion.
