Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has dismissed Valeriy Khoroshkovsky from military service.
The head of state signed a decree to that effect on Jan. 18, according to his official Web site.
"Ukrainian Army General Valeriy Ivanovych Khoroshkovsky has been dismissed from military service to the reserve of the Security Service of Ukraine," reads the decree.
On Jan. 18, 2012, the president appointed Khoroshkovsky as finance minister, in place of Fedir Yaroshenko who resigned from the post on the same day.
Under another decree, Khoroshkovsky was dismissed as head of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).
On Jan. 28, 2009, former Ukrainian President Viktor Yuschenko appointed Khoroshkovsky as the SBU’s first deputy chairman.
On March 18, 2009, Khoroshkovsky was appointed head of the Anti-Terrorism Center at the SBU.
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine appointed Khoroshkovsky as SBU head on March 11, 2010.
He is also a state counselor at the State Customs Service of Ukraine.
On Aug. 26, 2011, he was promoted to army general.
