You're reading: Yanukovych highly appraises declaration on Ukrainian-Russian strategic partnership

The Declaration on the Content of Ukrainian-Russian Strategic Partnership, signed in Yalta on Thursday, July 12, is a documents of exceptional importance, which creates an environment for further mutually advantageous cooperation between Ukraine and Russia, said Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych.

“The Declaration reflects the nature of our relations in all spheres
of cooperation without exception, and it emphasizes that these relations
are strategic,” Yanukovych was quoted as saying on the presidential
website.

Russian President Vladimir Putin in turn made a point that the
Declaration is a fundamental document Ukraine and Russia had never had
before, according to the posting. “It does reflect the priority aspects
of our cooperation,” Putin said, adding that it deals, among other
things, with political and economic cooperation.

Putin also said that the Declaration has laid the groundwork for
Ukrainian-Russian interaction in almost all of the most essential
spheres.
