Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has signed an instruction aimed at further improving the strategic partnership with Russia and steadily fulfilling agreements achieved during the fifth meeting of the Ukraine-Russia Interstate Commission.

“The president of Ukraine is closely monitoring the fulfillment of
agreements with Russia concluded by the sides’ top officials. Effective
work in this direction could significantly intensify mutually beneficial
cooperation between Ukraine and Russia,” Head of the Main Department on
Foreign Relations at the Presidential Administration Andriy Honcharuk
said, according to the presidential press service.

The document instructs the central executive agencies of Ukraine to
ensure the implementation of the tasks outlined in the protocol of the
meeting of the interstate commission, Honcharuk said.

According to the official, special attention in the decree is paid to
the preparations for the signing of bilateral documents, particularly
on the presence of the Russian Black Sea Fleet in Ukraine. A number of
tasks outlined by the president are connected with the Azov-Kerch issue,
particularly the drafting of an agreement between Ukraine and Russia on
the state border in the Black and Azov seas and Kerch Strait.

The president also instructed the central executive agencies to
coordinate their activities in order to organize timely and complete
fulfillment of their tasks, Honcharuk added.
