You're reading: Yanukovych meets with Turkish premier tête-à-tête

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych and Prime Minister of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan are holding a tête-à-tête meeting, the press service of the Ukrainian president said on Thursday.

During an official ceremony, Yanukovych welcomed Erdogan and the national anthems of both countries were played. After that, Yanukovych and Erdogan inspected the president’s guard of honor. The welcoming ceremony finished with introduction of the official delegations of both sides.

The presidential press service said that the Ukrainian president and the Turkish premier would chair the second meeting of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council of Ukraine and Turkey.

As reported, Prime Minister of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan is making an official visit to Ukraine on September 12-14.

The agenda of the Turkish premier’s visit includes a meeting with Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych on September 13, and participation in a meeting of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council of Ukraine and Turkey.

The head of the Turkish government will also attend the ninth annual conference Yalta European Strategy as an honorary guest.

A joint statement by the Ukrainian president and the Turkish premier, a number of bilateral documents, particularly cooperation agreements on education, development of entrepreneurship, and transport services, will be signed on the results of the visit.
