You're reading: Yanukovych proposes Rada consider number of bills

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has sent Verkhovna Rada Chairman Volodymyr Lytvyn a list of bills which he proposes be considered during the eleventh session of the parliament, president's representative in parliament MP Yuriy Miroshnychenko has said.

“The prospects for the development of the Ukrainian statehood, the current challenges and problems in society, including topical issues, which need to be addressed legislatively, were the subject of the president’s annual address to the parliament about the internal and external situation of Ukraine, as well as his speech on occasion of the Independence Day on August 24, 2012,” Miroshnychenko said.

As reported, the parliamentary speaker on Tuesday opened the 11th session of the Verkhovna Rada of the 6th convocation. After some time, the speaker proposed to change the parliament’s schedule, since not all the issues on the agenda of the session have been fully agreed.

The resolution adopted by the majority of people’s deputies noted that the September 4 and 5 MPs will work in committees and factions, and on 6 September there will be a plenary session.

The Verkhovna Rada of the 6th convocation is expected to work until December 17. The parliamentary elections in Ukraine are scheduled for October 28.

The main task of the current parliament is to pass the law on the state budget for 2013.
