You're reading: Yanukovych replaces chiefs of SBU offices in some regions

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has appointed new chiefs of the offices of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) in a number of regions. 

According to a decree posted on the Web site of the head of state on Friday, Volodymyr Fedirko was appointed head of the SBU office in Lviv region, Viacheslav Zemliansky – head of the SBU office in Mykolaiv region, and Hennadiy Hryschenko – head of the SBU office in Zakarpattia region (under another decree, Hryschenko was dismissed as chief of the SBU office in Ivano-Frankivsk region).

In addition, Yanukovych dismissed Oleksiy Obal as the Ukrainian president’s commissioner for control over SBU activities and appointed Serhiy Hanzha to this post.

Earlier, the president signed decrees dismissing Yuriy Kitsul as chief of the SBU office in Lviv region, Mykola Bobrov as chief of the SBU office in Mykolaiv region and Vasyl Sitara as chief of the SBU office in Zakarpattia region.
