Ukraine is awaiting an official visit by President of the Council of State and the Council of Ministers of Cuba Raul Castro, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has said.
"I recall with pleasure my meetings with President of the Council of State and the Council of Ministers of Cuba Raul Castro and Cuban Revolution leader Fidel Castro. During the talks, we reached important agreements, the implementation of which is under my personal control. I also expect our governments – of Ukraine and Cuba – to ensure the effective implementation of our agreements. In this regard, I expect President of the Council of State and the Council of Ministers of Cuba Raul Castro to visit Ukraine this year," Yanukovych said at a meeting with Vice President of Cuba’s Council of Ministers Marino Murillo in Kyiv on Wednesday.
Yanukovych said that this visit would be an important step towards deepening Ukrainian-Cuban relations.
The Ukrainian president made a state visit to Cuba in October 2011.
