Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has stressed the importance of opening modern cardiology centers in Ukraine.

“We need to build modern cardiology centers to significantly reduce
the mortality rate,” the presidential press service quoted him as saying
during the opening of the City Heart Center in Kherson on Thursday.

Yanukovych said cardiovascular diseases were currently the main cause of death in Ukraine.

He said that in various countries in the world, during the reform of
health care systems, particular attention was paid to the prevention and
treatment of cardiovascular diseases.

In his opinion, modern ambulance stations should operate at cardiology centers.

“Emergency care during cardiac diseases is often the most important thing,” Yanukovych said.

He said cardiac institutions should be equipped with modern medical
equipment and be provided with all of the necessary medicines.
