Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has said he believes that the country should retain the potential it has gained because of holding the Euro 2012 European Football Championship.

“Now the task is not to lose the potential we obtained. We have every
opportunity to increase tourist flows to Ukraine and to further develop
our infrastructure,” he said in Kyiv on Thursday, while speaking at an
official reception to mark the end of Euro 2012.

Yanukovych said new transport links would help strengthen relations and cooperation between different regions in Ukraine.

He said that after Euro 2012 Ukraine should prepare for the European
basketball championship in 2015, which will be held in several cities
across the country, and conduct serious work to win the right to host
the Winter Olympic Games in 2022 in the Carpathian region.
