NEW YORK – After taking the chairmanship of the OSCE in 2013, Ukraine will pay close attention to the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and the promotion of the Geneva discussions on security in the Caucasus, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has said.

“During our presidency we will make every effort to improve security
in the region and strengthen democratic institutions of the OSCE,” he
said in his speech at a session of the 67th UN General Assembly.

“The Ukrainian chairmanship will actively promote international
cooperation and dialogue in order to maintain stability and resolve
crises,” Yanukovych said.

According to him, Ukraine will pay close attention to the talks on the Transdniestrian issue.

“We also intend to encourage settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh
conflict in every possible way, as well as the Geneva discussions on
security and stability in the Caucasus,” Yanukovych said.
