KHARKIV - The position of Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych concerning the law on the principles of state language policy remains unchanged, according to the president's representative in the Verkhovna Rada Yuriy Miroshnychenko.

“After this law has been analyzed solely from the legal point of
view, the president will decide whether to sign it, or [to send it for
further] improvement,” Miroshnychenko said at a press conference in
Kharkiv, commenting on the statement of by the first president of
Ukraine, Leonid Kravchuk, that Yanukovych had agreed that they could not
allow the implementation of the language law.

The president is ready to constructive work, but the language issue
should be resolved once and for all, based on European standards, the
representative said.
