Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk will hold a meeting with the prosecutor general of Ukraine, the heads of the Interior Ministry, the Security Service, the National Police and the new anti-corruption prosecutor on Jan. 21 to hand them over the priority cases against corrupt officials.
“As the prime minister, I initiate a meeting of the prosecutor general, the head of the Interior Ministry, the National Police, the head of the SBU, the new anti-corruption prosecutor, the justice minister to convey on behalf of the government of Ukraine a list of criminal proceedings, which, in our opinion, require immediate investigation and bringing corrupt officials to justice,” Yatseniuk said at a meeting of the Cabinet in Kyiv on Jan. 20.
“First of all, I would like to emphasize that virtually none of the scams by [ex-president of Ukraine Viktor] Yanukovych and the former regime has been investigated. The arrested funds are still on the accounts, while two years have passed,” the prime minister said.
Yatsenyuk expressed his hope that “tomorrow there will be a meaningful and effective conversation, on how to fight corruption, and when this will be done.”
