You're reading: Yefremov: New language law could be adopted after parliamentary elections

The leader of the Regions Party faction in the Verkhovna Rada, Oleksandr Yefremov, has said that the new Ukrainian parliament could adopt a new language law to replace the current one.

When asked whether the new parliament will cancel the adopted
language law, he said: “As for its cancellation, you don’t have to be
clever to cancel something. You have to be cleverer to create
something.”

“If the next parliament is able to offer something more intelligent
and constructive to solve the language problem, I think that MPs will
react positively to this. If not, then all these are pre-election
promises, PR campaigns and nothing more,” he added.
