The daughter of jailed former Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko, Yevhenia has urged the international community to help in the fight for the release of political prisoners in Ukraine, according to the official Web site of Yulia Tymoshenko.

"I am urging the international community, the EU leaders, the world leaders to help free political prisoners in Ukraine. I beg you to recognize at all levels, that Yanukovych (Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych) and his rule are building authoritarianism in Ukraine, carrying out repressions, ignoring human rights and manipulating information in front of the international community," Yevhenia Tymoshenko said on Saturday in her speech at the 40th annual conference of the International Society for Human Rights, which is held in the former GDR prison in Cottbus (Germany).

In turn, Chairman of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, former president of the European Parliament Hans-Gert Pöttering expressed his concern about the situation in Ukraine. He stressed that he would make every possible effort to help free political prisoners in Ukraine.
