Ukrainian law enforcement agencies have opened 36 criminal cases on the results of checks into reports about violations during the election campaign, Ukrainian Interior Minister Vitaliy Zakharchenko said in an interview with journalists on Thursday.

“Law enforcement agencies check all reports of citizens during the election campaign and give clear legal evaluations to all actions – whether they are considered as administrative violations or, in some cases, as criminal violations. By the way, 36 criminal cases have been opened as of today following reports received by law enforcement agencies,” Zakharchenko said after the ceremony to open the 9th International Exhibition Arms and Security 2012.

He also said that the police would appreciate everyone’s assistance in discovering infringements of election legislation.

“I would like to stress once again that we promise to check all complaints, these reports will be published, and all citizens will have access to them,” the minister said.
