You're reading: 5 beaten by Berkut riot police hospitalized

Five injured activists have been hospitalized after clashes with Berkut near Kyiv Sviatoshyn District Court, emergency workers reported to an UNIAN correspondent.

This information was also confirmed by Svoboda
deputy Eduard Leonov. Furthermore, he emphasized that, “Berkut didn’t
discriminate the old or women – they beat everyone,” and even caught up
and beat passers-by and those who had fallen.

Leonov showed reporters his leg bruises after being hit with batons; his clothing was torn and dirty.

Svoboda reports that “Berkut beat Svoboda National Deputies deliberately – Eduard Leonov, Yuriy Bublyk and Pavlo Kyrylenko.”

Journalist Olena Bilozerska and more than a dozen other activists, including women, suffered as well, Svoboda announced.
