Ashton: Brussels ready to hold EU-Ukraine Summit in Luxemburg in summer 2013

EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton has stated that Brussels is ready to hold the next EU-Ukraine Summit in Luxemburg in the summer of 2013. 

According to the press service of the Ukrainian government, Ashton said this during a phone conversation with Acting Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov.

Ashton also said that the Association Agreement could be signed during the Eastern Partnership Summit in Vilnius in November 2013, reads the statement.

She also briefed Azarov on the conclusions of the EU Foreign Affairs Council on Ukraine. She stressed that the EU sincerely wished Ukraine to achieve progress in reform implementation, economy modernization, and democratic transformations, as well as in the realization of its European choice.

Ashton expressed hope that Ukraine will successfully implement the Association Agenda it approved with the EU, reform its election legislation and judicial system, and carry out constitutional transformations.

She also praised Ukraine's commitment to improvement of its election system in compliance with recommendations from EU representatives. She also said that the EU is ready to provide Ukraine assistance in reforming the judicial system.
