Prime Minister Mykola Azarov on Nov. 15 during a live telephone interview with the daily Kyiv-based Fakty tabloid compared Kyiv's Mayor Leonid Chernovetsky to Queen of England.
"Leonid Chernovetsky is like the Queen of England. He performs ceremonial functions for the most part. The heavy lifting and all managerial decisions are now taken by [deputy Kyiv City Administration chief] Oleksandr Popov in conjunction with the Cabinet of Ministers," Azarov was quoted by the tabloid as saying.
Azarov added that new mayoral elections would be held in Kyiv as soon as order is restored in the capital.
