Ukrainian General Staff Chief Viktor Muzhenko has agreed to appoint Dmytro Yarosh, the leader of Right Sector as an advisor to the Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander in Chief, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry said on April 5 evening.

“Ukrainian Armed Forces General Staff Chief Col. Gen. Viktor Muzhenko and the Ukrainian Volunteer Corps (DUK, set up at the initiative of the Right Sector) leader have agreed to appoint Dmytro Yarosh as an advisor to the Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander in Chief and coordinated a format of interaction between DUK and the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The agreement between Col. Gen. Viktor Muzhenko and Dmytro Yarosh was reached yesterday, at a meeting at the Ukrainian General Staff,” the report said.

Yarosh said that unity was a key condition of further successful struggle and expressed the readiness to develop interaction and integration of the so-called volunteer battalions with the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

“DUK, which is sharing tasks with the army, is ready to subordinate to army commanders in defending the nation from an external enemy and give every patriot a chance to protect Ukraine. Some are mobilized by the army, and some join volunteer units. There are many volunteers who cannot fight constantly for various reasons but they are ready to fight on a rotation basis. We will find a legislative option for these realities of war, including social security of such fighters and their families,” the Ukrainian Defense Ministry said.

“The Ukrainians need to have confidence in their army and [army] commanders and feel the readiness of the Armed Forces to protect our independence and the freedom of choice of our people any time,” the Ukrainian Armed Forces said.
