Brussels – The European Parliament's election observation mission will start working on October 24.

An Interfax-Ukraine reporter learned from the European Parliament on Monday that EP mission members were currently conducting preparatory work.

In particular, it is expected that on October 8, the president of the delegation, Pawel Kowal, and Vice President Michael Gahler will travel to Ukraine to meet with the Ukrainian authorities, political parties and the OSCE/ODIHR long-term observation mission.

"This formal pre-election visit was authorized by the conference of presidents at the beginning of this month, which gives special importance to the upcoming parliamentary elections for Ukraine's relations with the European Union," reads the statement.

The parliamentary elections in Ukraine are scheduled for Oct. 28.
