Kharkiv - A bomb made of plastic explosives went off at the Stina (Wall) rock pub in the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv, Oleksandr Pyvovar, director of the Ukrainian Security Service's (SBU) branch for the Kharkiv region has said.

In a video commentary, which was published by the Kharkiv regional administration’s press service, Pyvovar said that a similar explosive device had been confiscated during the detention of the so-called “Kharkiv partisans”, who had allegedly plotted to stage an explosion on the day before Ukraine’s parliamentary elections in October.

“We know for certain that the magnetic plastic bomb brought to the bar was the same as the one seized by us previously,” he said.

Pyvovar promised to track down both the perpetrators of this crime and those who ordered it.

“We know the persons who delivered them [plastic bombs] and participated in previous terrorist attacks. I am firmly convinced that we know the names of the persons we are looking for now, we know who delivered them and encouraged them to stage this crime,” he said.

According to Ukraine’s Interior Ministry, 13 people were injured in the explosion at Kharkiv’s Stina rock pub on Nov. 9.

Pub director Mykhailo Ozerov has blamed politics for the incident because the managers and owners of the bar have been working as volunteers.

A criminal investigation has been opened into the Nov. 9 explosion under Part 2 of Article 258 of Ukraine’s Penal Code (a terrorist act entailing serious consequences).
