Platini thanks Yanukovych for Euro 2012

UEFA President Michel Platini has thanked Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych for the gradual and constant maintenance of great work provided to ensure the successful holding of the Euro 2012 European Football Championship, the presidential press service has reported.

"On behalf of the UEFA Executive Committee and myself, I would like to express my sincere gratitude for the great efforts that the Ukrainian authorities applied for the perfect hosting of Euro 2012," he said in his letter.

Platini said that the tournament "was a great success at all levels." He also expressed hope that Euro 2012 would remain in Ukrainians' memory and would become a source of inspiration for future generations in the context of future sport development and preserving the values it professes.

"I also hope that the development of infrastructure necessary for the tournament will fit into the strategy of sustainable development," Platini said.
