Half of Ukrainians say life is hard but still tolerable, representatives of the Democratic Initiatives Foundation and the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology told a Friday press conference in Kyiv.
They held a nationwide poll from Sept. 18 through Oct. 4.

Some 49.8% of the respondents called the Ukrainian political situation tense; 27.5% called it calm; 3.5% said it was favorable; 12.3% said it was critical and explosive; and 6.9% could not give an answer.
Some 48.4% of the respondents said the Verkhovna Rada election would change nothing; 28.8% hoped for an improvement; and 7.2% said they expected further exacerbation. Some 15.7% were hesitant.
A total of 2,043 respondents were polled in 111 towns and cities throughout Ukraine. The error is under 2.2%.
