You're reading: Poll: Ukrainians think that country goes in wrong direction

Over 50% of Ukrainians have said the country is going in the wrong direction, according to the findings of the nationwide poll conducted by the Perspektyva political consulting agency.

“57.3% of respondents said Ukraine is going the wrong way,” a senior analyst at the Perspektyva Agency, Oleksandr Liapkalo, said at a press conference hosted by Interfax-Ukraine agency on Wednesday.

According to him, just 25.4% of respondents think that the course is right, while 17.3% found it difficult to say how Ukraine was developing.

At the same time 62.1% of polled hope that change of government will improve life, while only 37.9% of people connect expectations of the better life with the present government.

According to the research, 57.8% of Ukrainians said that country needs serious changes, but they have to happen slowly, and only 8.6% think that the country needs revolutionary change; 20.3% said radical change was needed through bold and firm action; 12.3% of polled agree that country needs only some changes, and just 1% of respondents said that the country needs no changes.

The poll was conducted on September 11-23 this year. 2,000 respondents were polled. The poll’s margin of error is 2.3%.
