The losses of the housing and utilities enterprise since the beginning of 2012 now total over Hr 3 billion, with the biggest losses, worth a total of Hr 1.9 billion and Hr 1 billion, were run up by municipal heating energy enterprises and water and sewage utilities systems respectively.

According to a press release of the Regional Development,
Construction, Housing and Utilities Ministry, among the regions with
biggest losses have are Donetsk (Hr 872.3 million), Luhansk (Hr 305.9
million) and Odesa region (Hr 164.7 million), and Autonomous Republic
of Crimea (Hr 194.2 million). The smallest losses were in Zakarpattia
(Hr 8.5 million), Chernivtsi (Hr 21.3 million), and in Sumy region
(Hr 29.2 million).

“Despite being prepared for winter with ‘a firm B’, there are
questions that could disrupt normal work. This is a financial state of
the enterprises. For example, Donetsk region has Hr 872 million in
losses, Luhansk region – Hr 306 million, Dnipropetrovsk region – Hr
293 million, and Kyiv – Hr 202 million. Donetsk region has more losses
than these three regions together. There’s no point in setting the task
of getting a change in tariffs. Work on improving the level of
profitability of enterprises. I don’t see definite actions improving the
situation,” the ministry’s press service quotes its minister, Anatoliy
Blyzniuk, as saying.

According to Blyzniuk, Hr 2.2 billion of Hr 6.9 billion of state
funds was used to pay off the margin in tariffs. Moreover, recently
Finance Ministry settled payments of over Hr 700 million.
