You're reading: Soros tells Poroshenko about initiative to draw up strategic plan of reforms for Ukraine

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko held a meeting with the founder of Open Society Foundations George Soros, at which Soros informed the head of state about the initiative of the strategic plan of reforms for Ukraine.

“We set up a strategic consultative group for immediate reactions to
challenges as they arise,” the press service of the Ukrainian president
reported on Monday, citing Soros.

The Ukrainian president stressed the necessity to coordinate efforts
in conducting reforms in Ukraine and declared strong support for the
initiative of Soros regarding the implementation of free insurance of
political risks for investors and partners of Ukraine.

Poroshenko also expressed the readiness to work out jointly the steps
and provide an effective mechanism of implementation of reforms in the
country.

The press service said that the meeting was attended by Chairman of
the Board of the International Renaissance Foundation Oleksandr Sushko
and Executive Director of the IRF Yevhen Bystrytsky.

The head of state thanked to the founder of Open Society Foundations
and the administration of International Renaissance Foundation for the
long-term and consistent support of reforms in Ukraine and permanent
cooperation in the development of civil society.
