Ukraine has forwarded an official request to the Organizing Committee of the London 2012 Olympic Games, asking it to urgently correct mistakes in biographical details published on the event's official website.

“In particular, it concerns information about the Russian national team’s athletes. There are serious mistakes in it regarding their place of birth in Ukraine,” the Ukrainian Olympic Delegation’s Headquarters said in a press release on Wednesday.

Ukraine will keep an eye on this situation and will take further measures, should new corrections to biographical information prove necessary, it said.

According to earlier news reports, information posted on the 2012 Summer Olympic Games website detailing the biographies of several Russian athletes mistakenly described the town or region where they were born in Ukraine as Russian territory.
