Ukraine gives away a Turkish resident suspected of embezzlement to Kazakhstan

ASTANA, Kazakhstan - Bekar Ergun, a Turkish resident, charged with embezzlement of a large sum of money earmarked under a contract for construction of a residential building in Almaty has been extradited from Kyiv to Astana.

According to a Tuesday press release of the Kazakh Prosecutor General's Office, in 2006 Ergun worked as director of ABAB Kurylys Alemi LLP and signed a contract with Construction Company INMEIR for construction of a 12-storey residential building in Almaty.

"However he failed to fulfill contractual obligations. Bekar Ergun stole the money allocated under the contract in the amount of 30 million tenge and used them for his own needs," the press release says.

On September 15, B.Ergun was given away to the police at the Astana airport on charges of embezzlement under Article 177.3b of the Criminal Code of Kazakhstan, according to the press release.
