Unemployment rate in Ukraine slides to 1.5% in August

The number of the unemployed registered in Ukraine as of September 1, 2012, was 426,700 people, which was 1.5% of the local workforce, the State Statistics Service reported.

Out of the registered unemployed, 312,200 people received unemployment benefits whose average sum was Hr 977 per capita, the source said.

The State Statistics Service earlier reported that the State Employment Service had 437,800 unemployed people on its books in July 2012, while there were 447,000 jobless people registered in June 2012.
