You're reading: Yanukovych: Constitutional reform a community project in Ukraine

Constitutional reform has become a community project in Ukraine, rather than a matter for a narrow circle of politicians, President Viktor Yanukovych has said.

“I’m confident that such [consolidated] decisions will have profound
implications for the whole of society, therefore constitutional reform
is turning from a cause for a narrow circle of politicians into a common
project of the Ukrainian community. I see here the importance of the
creation of the Constitutional Assembly,” he said on the occasion of the
Day of Unity and Liberty of Ukraine at Ukraina Palace in Kyiv on
Tuesday.

At the same time, Yanukovych called on every Ukrainian to “put aside
political disputes and direct efforts to find a common vision of the
prospects for Ukraine, as these reforms and the renewal of the country
are being done in order to improve the lives of the people.”
