You're reading: Yanukovych, not Tymoshenko, invited to The Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly session

The Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly (PACE) has not sent an official invitation to former Ukrainian Prime Minister and Batkivschyna party leader Yulia Tymoshenko.

No official invitation has been sent to Tymoshenko from PACE, and it is 100% certain that she will not deliver a speech at the assembly’s session, a PACE spokesman told Interfax-Ukraine.

The spokesman, however, said he did not rule out that Tymoshenko could come to Strasbourg at the invitation of some political group.

PACE has officially invited Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych and Foreign Minister Kostiantyn Hryschenko to its session, he said.

Tymoshenko, who has been ordered by investigators not to leave Kyiv, has asked the Ukrainian Prosecutor General’s Office to allow her to visit Strasbourg on June 21-22.

The Batkivschyna party’s press service claims that the former prime minister has been invited to PACE’s session.
