Larry King to advise Georgian opposition TV channel
Tbilisi - Larry King, the world-famous U.S. television and radio host, has become an adviser to Georgian television company Ninth Channel, which belongs to billionaire and opposition leader Bidzina Ivanishvili.
Ninth Channel is a free and independent news service that is coming up against unprecedented obstacles from the Georgian government, a statement from the television company cited King as saying on Wednesday.
It deserves support from Americans and Europeans, King said as quoted by Ninth Channel.
The statement said King is a member of Ninth Channel's newly created international advisory board.
The other board members are Les Gelb, a former correspondent for The New York Times and current president emeritus of the Council on Foreign Relations, a U.S. nonprofit organization, Lee Hamilton, a former member of the U.S. House of Representatives, an ex-president and director of the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars and current vice chairman of the 9/11 Commission, Giorgi Margvelashvili, rector of the Georgian Institute of Public Affairs, and Robert Menard, a French journalist and former secretary general of Reporters Without Borders.
