Russian and German Foreign Ministers Sergei Lavrov and Frank-Walter Steinmeier shared the view in a telephone conversation that the confrontation in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict area has no military solution.

On April 4, Lavrov held a telephone conversation with Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Chairperson-in-Office, German Foreign Minister Steinmeier initiated by the German side, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

“The ministers voiced serious concern about sharp escalation of the situation on the line of contact in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, which has already resulted in numerous casualties, including among civilians. Lavrov and Steinmeier were unanimous in the view that the confrontation in the region has no military solution and spoke in favor of showing restraint by the sides, immediate ceasefire and return on the track of negotiating process under the aegis of the OSCE Minsk Group,” the foreign ministry said in a statement.
