CORONADO, California (AP) — The U.S. Navy aircraft carrier from which the body of Osama bin Laden was buried at sea has returned to its home port in San Diego Bay.

The USS Carl Vinson docked Wednesday morning at Naval Base Coronado.

A crowd of family members turned out to wave welcome-home signs to sailors lining the deck.

The Carl Vinson was in the North Arabian Sea last month when it received a Navy SEAL team carrying the body of the mastermind of the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks.

The body was placed in a weighted bag, an officer made religious remarks, and it was dropped into the sea.
