France is ready to help formulate a decision to lift anti-Russian-sanctions introduced over the events in Ukraine, but there is still no certainty, French Senate President Gerard Larcher has said.

“Today I know that we should get prepared. There is no certainty in order to be able to say that sanctions should continue. It is necessary to look for other solutions. In any case, we would like to help make this process easier,” Larcher told reporters on Tuesday.

“An EU summit will be held at the end of June and the beginning of July. Work on this matter is also under way at the European Commission, which will present appropriate proposals at the right moment,” he added.

“But the step that we count on will be far easier to take if the Minsk agreements are implemented,” Larcher said.
