Police in Uganda have arrested the country's top opposition politician for the fourth time in two weeks.

Kizza Besigye’s car was surrounded by hundreds of chanting supporters Thursday when riot police moved in as Besigye neared Kampala, the capital.

Police arrested Besigye and fired tear gas and rubber bullets, sending people fleeing.

Besigye has now staged four "walks to work" to protest higher food and fuel prices in Uganda. He also says the walks are to put the spotlight on alleged corruption in President Yoweri Museveni’s government.

Museveni won re-election in February with nearly 70 percent of the vote. Besigye was second. Despite the election loss, recent price spikes have given Besigye a new boost in popularity.
