You're reading: ‘No Art’ at M-17 is for art lovers

Despite the obscure name, “No Art,” the current show at the art center M-17 offers some pretty striking visuals for contemporary art aficionados.

It might be up to the viewer to decide whether it is art or not, though – but this is true about much of the modern art.

Nude women are sprawled out in various futuristic settings, some are wearing cone hats covering their faces, others are climbing around construction sites, and others still are caught in clear bubbles like embryos.

Ukrainian photographer Vitaliy Vasilev was inspired to do this show when he visited this gallery in between exhibitions and was struck by its bare white walls waiting to display art. He decided to fill the space with something unconventional.

Luckily, his wife and fellow photographer Elena, as well as his Brazilian curator Ricardo Fernandez collaborated to put the exhibit together.
The couple, whose works appeared in Vogue and Spiegel, explain that the concept behind the show is to encourage the process of reflection and introspection.

Through Jan. 30, Art Center M-17, 102-104 Gorkogo St., free admission.
