You're reading: Three centuries of Japanese fashion

Unique outfits from private collections will show more than 300 years of evolution of Japanese fashion and reveal the secrets of their legendary owners. Images of aristocrats, geishas, courtesans and actors will appear in prints and on scrolls that accompany a collection of kimonos.

Rare wedding gowns, ceremonial kimonos, samurai costumes and even the imperial court costume of the Meiji period, which the movie “The Last Samurai” tells about, can be seen.  Kimonos  shown in “Memoirs of a Geisha” will also be presented.
