Netflix’s “Winter on Fire: Ukraine’s Fight for Freedom” lost the Academy Awards’ Best Documentary Feature nomination to “Amy,” a biopic about British singer Amy Winehouse.

“Winter on Fire” is the first movie co-produced by Ukrainians to ever be nominated for Oscars.

The documentary is a chronicle of EuroMaidan Revolution, a series of protests that took place in 2013-2014 and resulted in pro-Russian President Viktor Yanukovych fleeing the country.

“Amy” is a biographical film about Amy Winehouse, a British singer who passed away in 2011.
